Admission - EdS in Secondary Education

To be considered for regular admission to the EdS degree program, students must meet the following requirements:

  • A masters degree from an accredited institution
  • Alabama Class “A” certification in the specified teaching field 
  • An overall undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or a 3.0 average for the last 60 semester hours in a degree program, or a 3.0 or higher in a completed graduate degree program
  • A minimum combined score of 300 on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or at least a 50th percentile on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT)

A completed UA Graduate School application package includes:

  • Official transcripts from all institutions attended
  • Three letters of recommendation (one from principal/superintendent)
  • A statement of purpose
  • A Graduate School application
  • A valid test score on the Graduate Record Examination or the Miller Analogies Test
